The Unitree G1 Edu Plus U2 is a mid-tier developer configuration in the G1 humanoid lineup, featuring expanded articulation with 29 degrees of freedom including 7-DOF arms and 3-DOF waist for enhanced manipulation and whole-body coordination research. This variant bridges the Standard and Ultimate tiers, providing additional capability without the complexity of dexterous hands.

This U2 configuration is supplied with dummy hands: fixed display hands, not dexterous ones. For manipulation, the Ultimate configurations carry dexterous hands, such as the three-finger Edu Ultimate U3 or the five-finger Edu Ultimate U5.

The Edu Plus includes non-dexterous end effectors (commonly referred to as "fake hands" in distributor listings), which provide arm termination without active finger manipulation. This configuration suits research focusing on arm trajectory planning, object pushing/manipulation, and bimanual coordination where grasping is secondary to body motion.

Enhanced features include 120 N·m peak knee torque, 100 TOPS GPU computing, and full secondary development support with SDK access. The expanded 7-DOF arm configuration (vs 5-DOF in Standard) provides additional workspace flexibility for manipulation experiments and human-like arm motion research.
